Companion Notes to Train Athletic Craft Video 2

The human being is always building connections and relationships. Not all of these are intentional but form out of repetitive thoughts and actions in our everyday lives. Our intentional focus on deep points of personal interest create equally strong connections and relationships. Some examples are, chosen career paths, marriage, sincere beliefs that turn into principles and form the foundations of our ethics, the list can go on and on.

True Actual Choice is a very powerful TAC acronym. Do we have actual genuine choices? Where does it come from? Where do our choices lead us? For instance, as you can see from the video I've come up with a "hand sculpture" technique that helps inform my embouchure shape. When you have built a living relationship with something, techniques, revelations, endless ideas, ways and means will come to you. This can lead to having many options- an abundance of choices will be right in front of you! The True Actual Choice part will express itself because you built a lving relationship with something. It is not stagnant and stuck in one way only except the way of where the natural laws lead you.

This way of going on for me has led organically into personal science where a person uses their experiences as empirical evidence. Because I have been teaching and working with people for over 5 decades, I have collected a huge amount of empirical evidence from trying things with other people of all ages. I love confirmation and the surprises of when things don't work and when they don't seem like they should work! This brings about an attachment to living truth rather than being bound and adhereing to concepts only coming from a personal viewpoint.

Love the journey and process of being IN the living Art, for it goes beyond product preoccupation into the ever expanding nature of life and the Everlasting origin that it arises from.

New Bolter Offering on Zoom starting 4/22/23 "Train Athletic Craft," plus link to video and Zoom Invitation

Hello Everyone!

This is to inform you that on Saturday 4/22/23 at 11am EDT, to be held on Zoom, I will be starting a new video series called: Train Athletic Craft. Yes, this is another acronym for TAC!  Those who have participated in my TAC offerings starting in 2021 are well aware there are many acronyms for TAC. Originally TAC stands for The Amazing Club. It is not a closed club but is open to all who feel compelled "To bravely go where few have gone before!" :-)

In these sessions, we will be warming-up together and looking at the fundamentals in a variety of ways. In fact, how this acronym of TAC came about, was seeing that in all performing arts, there is the practical aspect of training the athletic (mind-body-coordination) part of ourselves to develop skills and those skills to build a craft for a specific purpose, i.e. brass playing, playing any musical instrument, dance of any kind, acting, theater, figure skating etc.

This is another angle of the first overlay called Robotic Automatic Systems of the Overlay System consisting of three main overlays. Lots written and spoken on these overlays already. The Overlay System will naturally appear in these TAC sessions, including, of course, the other two overlays of Skill and Choice (second overlay) & Integration and Art (third overlay). They will all start to resonate and play a vitally active part in these sessions.

We will have an element of fun (damentals) in our time together for sure. It will also open up doors To Activate Creativity in our own private practice time as well!

Bolter: FBMCWE New YouTube Video, Premiere of Times Of Changing Timbres

Hi Everyone,

I premiered a piece yesterday at a BOCO studio trombone recital. I had planned to make a YouTube video in my own setting soon afterwards. The soon after was tonight, 2/19/23.

Dr. V and I have learned many years ago that not every piece can be played in all environments. I'm glad I played it yesterday at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee and then to follow up in my own private setting tonight. As you watch the video, you will see that I talk about the piece and give some views of my own personal experience of the times we now find ourselves in plus my own need to express in a multitude of timbres.

With such an emphasis on consistency and evenness of tone throughout the registers for orchestral auditions, there really is not an emphasis for color change beyond dynamic contrasts, mutes changes and equipment changes. That can be a lot of change. But it is not as dramatic a change as string players are asked to do.

Timbre cannot exist without rhythm and or pitch. Timbre is the chamber (made of material and shape) of resonance for rhythm and pitch to appear. (But what creates timbre besides rhythm and pitch?!). In fact, the deeper we look into these three, (three being a cosmic law and spiritual number i.e. trinity), the One appears as three. Rhythm, pitch and timbre cannot exist independently. You can see each one, but they cannot exist without each other.

THINK ABOUT IT. IT WILL OPEN UP THE UNIVERSE. But, that is not the main reason for looking into it...
